Embracing French Culture
I am a firm believer that our past and present decisions and actions help shape our future endeavors. My father, who was a meticulous host, my professional social work background, my success as a NYC Airbnb host, my worldwide voyages, and my marriage to a French man from Lyon, all prepared me for the establishment of Raisin et Toile – French American Retreat.
As a child growing up in Philadelphia and New Jersey, I often admired my father meticulously inspecting the flatware and wine glasses, as if he was preparing the dining table for royalty. As a graduate student, I lived in the International House in New York City. During that time, I met my husband of 35 years and I made long-term friendships with foreigners that led me to Switzerland, London, and Italy. Perhaps those early opportunities to travel internationally were the catalyst for cultural discoveries.
I thrive on visiting different countries, learning new languages, interacting with locals, trying new foods, and learning about histories and cultures that are unlike mine. These new experiences have significantly broadened my perspective on life. These experiences have made me a global citizen.
My sentiment is that life is too short, and our world is too immense and amazing, to stay in your zip code. I am blessed to have been afforded opportunities to live a global lifestyle.
We at Raisin et Toile feel grateful and thrilled to share our lovely character house and beloved pets with our esteemed guests. Our mission is to deliver an unrivaled experience of French culture and gastronomy in a therapeutic and peaceful setting to guests who have an inquisitive spirit. We look forward to sharing a slice of our heaven on earth with you. À très bientôt!
